Mission Support Specialist - Logistics (GS-11) - SkillBridge
Internship Opportunity
IMPORTANT NOTE : This opportunity is only open to U.S. Army CSP &
DoD SkillBridge participants on Active-Duty who are at least 13
months from separation.
Location: U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) - Miami Sector, Pembroke Pines,
FL
SALARY: DoD SkillBridge interns are paid by DoD while they intern
as volunteers with CBP. The salary range below reflects the pay
scale if hired at the end of the SkillBridge internship. There is
no guarantee of employment, however, if CBP hiring managers are
able to hire interns at internship conclusion, the salary range is:
$62,107-80,737 (GS-11 Step 1-10).
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent provides technical
guidance and performs a variety of comprehensive services as it
relates to workforce management, staffing and position management,
logistics and general administrative tasks as it relates to mission
support.
Contributes to the formulation and implementation of policies
relating to the sector workforce management and position management
policy, procedures and other matters affecting USBP workforce
administrative programs. Participates in studies and makes
recommendations relating to workforce management activities.
Performs liaison duties with Office of Human Resources (HRM) Labor
Relations staff. Performs tasks associated with creating
requisitions and purchase orders to ensure budget approval.
Provides technical advice regarding regulations and techniques
concerned with the use and expenditures of appropriation funds as
applied to the use of the government purchase card. Performs
purchases of office supplies, equipment, etc. using a government
purchase card. Serves as an Approving Official and/or Alternate
Approving Official for the purchase card program.
Initiates timely and accurate personnel- related actions related to
promotions, reassignments, transfers, retirements, awards,
timecards, and leave. Serves as a liaison between the sector office
and USBP headquarters. Maintains various reports, updates and
provides updated information for the Agency's internal Table
Organization (TO) tracker, monitoring tickler reports and the
staffing table. Coordinates with the supervisor and staff to ensure
that receipts of documents and actions are completed in a timely
manner. Responsible for the oversight of the Public Transportation
Incentive Program and non-travel related vouchers, such as
professional liability claims, parking, local expenses, etc.
Responsible for managing the Travel Card program by serving as the
Local Program Coordinator at their respective location. Serves as
the Certifier and Reviewer to fund and approve travel
authorizations and vouchers. Monitors overtime pay to ensure that
no employee exceeds the congressionally mandated overtime pay cap.
Responsible for monitoring Federal Employee Pay Act (FEPA), Border
Patrol Agent Pay Reform Act (BPAPRA) overtime, Holiday worked
hours, and Student Aide Funding, (if applicable) to ensure usage is
within established budgetary allocations and restrictions.
Provides local agency direction and facilitates the creating,
accepting, modifying and transferring of personal property records
in accordance with USBP directives. Reviews and processes lost,
stolen, destroyed, and missing property in the appropriate systems.
Research suppliers and works with requesters to procure
goods/services, then prepares required documents and submits them
for approval. Executes purchases, conducts reconciliation, and
maintains documentation as directed by the Purchase Card Manual.
Prepares reports from internal data sources as well as Agency
automated systems for regular and one-time informational needs by
senior managers.
Conducts records management and produces various fleet reports.
Conducts various activities within the agency's Fleet card program
to include ordering cards, performing audits, extracting reports,
reporting fraud and processing override requests. Orders local
agencies' vehicle license plates and vehicle insurance. Schedules
bulk fuel deliveries, receives invoices, and arranges for payment
on the Bulk Fuel purchase card. Tracks mileage for patrol vehicles,
ATVs, snowmobiles, personal watercrafts, and boats for scheduled
service and safety inspections. Responsible for preparing special
briefings and reports to management to foster understanding and
acceptance of findings and recommendations for future staffing and
placement, personnel management and other administrative
operational needs. Assists the supervisor with managing base pay,
premium pay, overtime, and leave entitlements and administration.
Provides support with performance appraisal and awards programs on
employee eligibility for various awards.
